  • Re: Mosquito Lagoon

North or South? Top Spot Chart is a good starting point. Target small, medium, large and extra large Reds and Gator Trout. Be very cautious when you are running as there are a lot of shoal areas. Pristine area, great fishing.

  • Re: sunglasses

From the conditions and time of day, low light. Try the Costa Del Mar Wave Killer with a Vermillion lens. Do not expect miracles as with any type of glasses you have to get used to not looking for fish, but, for a line or object that does not look like it belongs in the area you are looking at. Dirty or stained water makes sight fishing very ...

  • Vero Snook, Reds and Trout

The fishing is up and down. Two weeks ago I fished a tournament that a 7 pound Trout would not make the board. a 4 pound Red would have been 2nd. Still crying as I lost three good Reds early (hook failure). The following trip was nothing but big Lady Fish, U-2's and Cats. The ''Trash Can Slam'' was solid for the day. Did manage to find a ...

  • Re: Rod Repair

You can fix the rod, but the repair if not done with a much softer and lower modulus material will only result in another break just above or bellow the sleeve or insert. Your best bet is to remove the existing guide and cut the blank off(use a triangle file) a little above the guide. Install a new tip and adapt to a little shorter rod. You ...

Any report of fish caught is a help. You are on the right track, follow this site. the show I don't get to see. Don't watch enough TV. I started fishing at age 5, and will be a little embarrassed to say that I have been fishing for close to 60 years. You will never stop learning. One of the things that you can do to help better your skills is ...

  • Re: Learning the Basics

Google Images comes up a little short, not too bad. Try to find your area on www.standardmap.com. I've done pretty good with their product. A second choice would be Google FDOT Surveying and Mapping Office. They have some excellent aerial photography available. Narrow your search early if you use the FDOT route as it can get expensive.

You are better off with the dollars in your pocket. The Flats Class Forums and tv show will give you more useful info than this publication ever will. Most of the Florida based tv shows have very informative web sites. Captain C. A. Richardson has a very good site with a lot of good info. As far as field testing, the required reports make ...

  • Reds and Black Drum

31 March 2010 The flats in the Vero/Wabasso area of the Indian River are really starting to heat up. First area yesterday was holding Reds, managed to boat 11 of them. The only problem, not a one of them made the slot. The range was from 15 to 17 inches. There were a few bigger Reds in the area, but you couldn't get past the Rats to get to ...

  • Re: Tampa Bay BLACK DRUM BLITZ

Sounds a lot like the Mosquito Lagoon all year except up there it is the schools of big Reds. Anglers get on these schools and stay with them for hours on end. The end result, you get to see a lot of big Reds but they are really shy about eating anything.

  • Re: Snook Outlook Vero/Wabasso/Indian River

2 1/2 inch Squid Skirt in the Cabela's catalogue, item number IA-124353 color006, 071, 085 or 096. Sea Striker has a 3 inch version that is very good. Found that at ***'s Sporting Goods down here. One of the reasons that this is producing is that we have a lot of Glass Minnows in the water. The plastics are just a little bit bigger. Sorry no ...
