• Re: Line Choice

Calvin, I'm a huge fan of braided line and for the longest time I used nothing but braid. Watching FCTV however C.A. and Ray explained the benefits to using mono for plug/treble hook applications. After changing my setup to their recommendations I totally understand why. Braid is a great choice for throwing into cover, single hook or live bait ...

  • Re: 2010 TV Shows

I think it's the first week in April but FSN and Sun sports web sites don't show past 3/31. Really need my Flats Class fix, these other fishing shows are ok but no one educates like C.A. and Ray. -Jared E.

  • Re: Snook Closed All Year

Tex, The Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) has decided to close seasons for bonefish, and tarpon till April and they are extending the closed season for snook till September. These species are still open for Catch & Release. The species were hit hard with this last cold blast. Reports are piles of fish on the banks from Indian River Lagoon

  • Re: Snook, Tarpon, Golaith Slam?

FFManz, I respect your request but, your cause would be better spent posting a new topic while explaining your reasons. Note the date of my post. The day before we went fishing the temps down here were in the 80s and it was the first cold day of December here (plus it's not snook season so no harvesting). My thinking on the matter is if the ...

  • Re: What do you think of pro-cure (POLL)

Yes it makes a difference, I use mullet and shrimp the most, but mostly mullett. I throw a lot of fish patterns. Right now with the cold weather you cant beat the shrimp on a tube. 2 Quick stories. I was in the ENP a few weeks ago and ran into some schools of nice snook feeding on some baitfish. I quickly got out my rod and made about four or

  • Re: Beach Snook??

Barry, I don't know exactly where Ray and C.A. were for the beach snook episode but I have spent some time in Navarre and never caught a snook that far North. Navarre is great for spot tails, doormats, and sea trout but not so much snook. Even though their official range is from South Texas to South Carolina catching snook a couple hours North

''I really like the idea of going where most cant it seems alot more peacefull/serene if you wil'' For us on the kayaks yes. . for the fishes no. They get worked hard all day :-) I just bought a used Native Ultimate solo/tandem for $500. . . yea I know I was amazed too. The yak came with both seats and no paddles. It was garage kept but not ...

  • Re: going no motor

Bri, As of last week I officially became part of the no-motor crew. I have been canoeing all my life. Mostly fresh water places, Loxahatchee, Wekiva, RockSprings run, and Juniper Springs + many more. I have a 16' Grumman canoe that I love, however I just got a kayak and I'm pretty sure that I'm staying with kayaks. I fell in love with this ...

  • Re: Snook, Tarpon, Golaith Slam?

Water temp didn't affect lure choice too much but it did affect ''when'' the bite was on. We got in our fishing area early and the bite didn't turn on till about 10:30am. Most of these fish were in deep water next to the mangroves so we threw our normal fluke style (SK Ztoo) bait rigged weedless up against and into the mangroves (drags set nice ...

  • Snook, Tarpon, Golaith Slam?

Well it may not be a sanctioned slam but it was as fun as it gets. My friend Carlos and I took another trip to some no-motor areas in the ENP and we lit it up. The day started out slow and we almost called it a day but we decided to try one last honey hole and boy did our patience pay off. I honestly don't know how many snook we caught it was so
