Stalking redfish in the marsh of Louisiana always seems to be a slam dunk but...not always! I just got back from a three day pre-fish trip out there and the north wind blowing was most of the water out of the marsh it was tough fishing by cajun standards, maybe just 15-20 fish per day about half of what I normally expect to catch out there!
And the number of refusals while sight fishing was quite high, it probably was due to the low water even cajun reds get spooky in clear skinny water. Anyhow, I'll be back out there in a week hopefully with better conditions (more water) to fish. A bonus on the positive side was I did catch plenty of bass on SK Glass Minnows, they crushed them, which kept the action going all day.
By the way the one lure the reds could not refuse was a Strike King Flippin Tube (green pumpkin)...just in case any of you planned to fish out there soon.
