    Tampa Bay Report

Because I havent seen much action on the forum, I thought I might comment on whats been going on in Tampa Bay, as far as my excursions have been going.....

    1.  Trout.......Everywhere, and Hungry!  Up and down weedon island you can find these guys...some schooled, and larger singles.  Also along the flats near ft. desoto / near skyway bridge.    Fish with either shrimp or shrimp artificial...DOA or the like.  Terrain:  the three most prominent that I have heard of for specks is:

       1.  Flats edge (4-8 ft deep).  2.  Potholes / edges of potholes.  3.  < 2 feet of water, grassy bottoms.

What I have found is that the dark / muddy / grassy bottoms in < 3 feet of water produce the biggest ones nowadays.....i guess cuz its warms the quickest.

    2.  Redfish......sight fishing mostly.  A decent amount can be caught on the eastern shores of tampa bay (little manatee river, apollo beach, powerplants, cockroach bay, bishops bay, etc.)

They are great in the afternoons, nowadays, after the water has had all day to warm from the sun.  These guys are in like 5 inches of water, hard to get to unlessyou wade or kayak, or have a kickass boat.  I think these guys are still very fun to catch and pursue.

    3.  Snook.....still have only seen one alive since the freeze.....hope they are doing well.

Cant wait for march.....for warmer water temps.

    Tight Lines!
